Listen to the Content Creation Made Easy Podcast

Can we stop talking about pain points now?

“But I haaaaate pointing out their pain points!”, she said.

She was struggling to convert new clients into her business, and kept writing content that never got any traction.

She didn’t like my suggestion to help her audience see themselves by pointing out their struggle with clarity!

I know that hammering our audience with THIS IS WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU language feels shitty for us as content creators.

So, how do we create effective content without being too FLUFFY or coming down with Thor’s hammer?

Consider: humans generally don’t change unless something’s a HUGE pain in the ass problem causing us LOTS of struggle!

I once had a sales call with a woman fresh outta life coach training who wanted to avoid the pitfalls she’d “heard about from friends” -

but she hadn’t experienced any business-building pain YET.

Hadn’t been ping-ponged around the online entrepreneurial world, defeated by marketing, or struggled to attract clients

She hadn’t lived the NUMEROUS entrepreneurial pain points & was NOT ready to invest in business coaching as a pre-emptive strike.

Be honest: how often do YOU do a pre-emptive strike & make a change to AVOID a problem?

Yeah - neither does your audience.

To avoid addressing pain points in their content marketing, people focus on

A. Feel-good, warm, fuzzy, INSPIRATIONAL marketing. Memes, quotes, motivation.

You want your audience to get a solution to their problem, right? They need more than a popsicle to make them feel better.

B. HOW-TO content.

Constantly telling people “HOW TO” do everything in your content doesn’t actually solve their problem.

If they could do it themselves, THEY ALREADY WOULD’VE DONE IT!

Show your audience you see them, you get them, and you can help them - whether you have a product or service!

Your content doesn’t have to constantly be “I’m banging you over the head with your pain points.”

But your audience needs to see that you see them where they are right now.
