How To Plan The Most Perfect Summer For Yourself
Are you dealing with FRAZZLE? Here’s some help for what’s NEXT - post FRAZZLE!
This June was crazy for me and I’m sure it was for your too. I don’t know what it is about June, but there are so many things happening that it causes insane amount of frazzle!
It’s hard to get through the frazzle and I know that you are getting through it. But what happens after school ends? What happens when you get your life back?
Stuck In The Cycle
On the phone with the client the other day, she was just waiting for school to end. I asked her what I thought she was going to be like and I had to point out to her that she’s expecting that everything is going to change once school ends. However, my client has already trained everyone that she is the go to person to get things done. She’ll make the breakfasts, solve problems, and generally give everyone some help.
Until you put up boundaries, it’s going to continue that way. While it sounds counterintuitive, you have to plan your summer to see things changing. Right now you’re pushing through some hard things. We’re all just waiting for summer to be over. But without a plan, everything is going to bleed into each other
Think About Your Future Self
I want you to think of your perfect summer days. What goals do you want to achieve? What is it that you really want? What commitments can you make to yourself?
If you don’t make these commitments to yourself then you won’t get things done. I want you to look at the list of things you want to do and see if you can change your schedule up. If you want to read more, then try waking up earlier to get a half hour of reading in. You want to take a vacation? Allocate the time to do so, and see how you can arrange the other obligations in your life to facilitate that.
If you don’t plan these things out and honor these commitments, nothing is going to happen. Two weeks will have flown by and there will be no momentum towards the things you wanted to achieve!
My Perfect Day
I’m someone that tends to overwork. I thrive off of working and can do it all day. Let’s be honest, sometimes that’s all I do in a day. Now, I find joy in my business but I still need room for some fun. So what can I do? I made a commitment to stop working at 3PM after I pick up my son from camp. Crazy, right?
While this might affect my business, I wanted time in my business and time in fun. I wanted the time to take advantage of my best friend’s new pool and lounge around for a bit. I wanted to force myself to relax and practice some self care. Spend time with my friends and family! This is something that my future self will appreciate more than if I didn’t make this commitment. I’d end up a little frazzled in my mind. By doing this I’m clearing up space in my mind to be more productive when I am in business mode, AND I’m cultivating the relationships that are most important to me.
So what can you do this summer to create your perfect summer day? What commitments can you make to move forward on your goals?
